Today's Wisdom

Those who do not pass from the experience of the cross to the truth of the resurrection condemn themselves to despair! For we cannot encounter God without first crucifying our narrow notions of a god who reflects only our own understanding of omnipotence and power

Let Us Pray

Pope Francis asked the faithful to pray the holy Rosary during the month of May dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary asking her to help us through her maternal prayers to face up to the coronavirus pandemic...May 1st is Worker's Day dedicated by Pope St. Paul VI for the dignity of workers inspired by the example of St. Joseph who cared for Jesus our Lord and his mother the Virgin Mary. Let us pray as the Holy Father prayed today Friday May 1st for the workers who lost their jobs during the pandemic.

To recover from the coronavirus pandemic

1. Pope Francis asked the faithful to pray the holy Rosary during the month of May dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary asking her to help us through her maternal prayers to face up to the coronavirus pandemic (see the brief report here)...

2. Due to social distancing required for safety against the spread of the coronavirus, I wish to share two comments - The first is from a homily on Sunday April 26 by the Jesuit scholar Fr. Henri Boulad here subtitled "La peur d'être seul ..." in French where he commented on the fear and anxiety that come from being alone - He said it was an opportunity for him to be alone with God in the depth of his soul (a mystical experience that 3 apostles experienced in the transfiguration of Christ !),. The second is an excellent article titled "The Secret to Surviving Covid-19 and Beyond: Adaptability" written in April by Maggie Ciskanik, M.S. senior consultant associated with Jesuit scholar Fr. Robert Spitzer - Read it here

3. An interview by Peter Robinson; fellow at Stanford University with Victor Davis Hanson; a conservative classical scholar at the Hoover Institution on "Corona, California, and the Classical World" recorded on April 23, 2020 (see it here).

4. Two research articles titled "How COVID-19 Will Pass from Pandemic to Prosaic" and "Straight Talk About a COVID-19 Vaccine" appeared this week in "NAUTILUS" research blog - The first written by Anastasia Bendebury and Michael Shilo DeLay with PhDs at Columbia University, and the second written by Robert Bazell, adjunct professor of molecular, cellular, and developmental biology at Yale, the two articles were reviewed by a top medical researcher in Canada whose credentials include "BSc Hons, MD, FRCPC, FACC, FAHA, FCAHS, FCCS; Professor Emeritus, Medicine and Physiology, University of Toronto; Consultant Cardiologist, University Health Network, Toronto" - They can be accessed here.

5. It seems that remdesivir could be a viable treatment against COVID-19. According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, top medical adviser to the White House in the United States "the data shows that remdesivir has a clear-cut, significant, positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery," Dr. Anthony Fauci said on April 29 at the White House during a meeting with President Donald Trump (see reports here and here).

6. On April 29, CNN reported "A German company working with US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has begun human trials of a potential Covid-19 vaccine that could supply millions by the end of the year, according to the two firms...Mainz-based BioNTech reported that the first cohort of participants had been given doses of the potential vaccine, BNT162, in a Phase 1/2 clinical study in Germany."Twelve study participants have been vaccinated with the vaccine candidate BNT162 in Germany since the start of the study on April 23, 2020," the company said in a statement. Let us pray for the Divine help that we all need...
